Jessica Simpson was hitting her middle aged years and was starting to accumulate more body fat.
This is an especially common trend that I see with my clients once they hit that 40-50 year old age bracket.
Your metabolism starts to slow down and if you aren’t careful – the pounds can add up quick.
Jessica Simpson’s weight loss journey is exemplary of many of the fitness concepts that I preach on a daily basis.
Her approach is simple and there is no reason that you can’t make as much progress as she did.
1.) She Walked 14,000 Steps Daily
One of the primary modalities that Jessica employed was the use of low intensity aerobic exercise in the form of walking.
She walked 14,000 steps per day in order to create a significant enough calorie deficit to begin losing weight.
What’s not super important is the fact that she walked specifically 14,000 steps.
This number represents a larger concept.
That of low intensity aerobic activity.
Walking is a form of cardio that yields incredible dividends when it comes to weight loss.
That’s because walking is specifically an aerobic form of exercise which means that your body will burn primarily fat in order to fuel each step that you take.
If you are burning fat as your primary energetic fuel source, guess what occurs as a result of doing it several times a week for a long duration?
That’s right – fat loss.
2.) She Ate 3 Protein Rich Meals Per Day
It’s no secret that consuming a high protein diet is imperative for weight loss.
When I write diet plans for my clients, I specifically prescribe them 0.75 – 1 gram of protein per lb of body weight to consume each day.
That’s because protein is the most satiating macronutrient which means it will keep you full for a really long time.
Ultimately, this leads to consuming less calories overall during the day.
Furthermore, consuming high amounts of protein will fuel your body with the amino acids it needs to build muscle and recover from your gym workouts.
Jessica followed a book called Body Reset Diet which includes recipes that are high in protein and fiber.
3.) She Hit The Gym 3 Days Per Week
You don’t need to spend hours in the gym each day in order to make progress like Simpson did.
All it takes is consistency and making sure you put in effort during every workout.
Jessica worked out with her trainer 3x per week during which time they completed a series of strength training exercises.
I’m a huge advocate of hiring a coach in order to guide you through the weight loss process.
Hire a Personal Trainer
Hiring a personal trainer is the first step you should take if you are serious about losing weight.
Your trainer should work closely with you each step of the way and provide guidance outside of your training sessions.
I’ve helped hundreds of individuals in person and remotely achieve their desired body composition goals.
I prioritize working with a small, select group of individuals who are serious about getting results.
If you would like help on your weight loss journey, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Even if you are not looking to hire a trainer at this time, I’d be happy to point you in the right direction to get started.
